Faith….or the Mutiny Part 2

So the mutiny aboard the Demetrius continues. The only person standing alongside Starbuck is Anders, who thinks the mutiny is a bad thing. He has alternative motives as well. He wants to visit a cylon baseship to learn anything about his cylon self. To get his way, he shots Gaeta in the leg as he was trying to jump the ship back to the fleet. Anders gets his way then.

The crew does some calculations to find out that they have about 15 hours before they miss their window to catch the fleet. Helo agrees to send Starbuck and a crew on a raptor to the cylon baseship.

So on board the raptor are Starbuck, Leoben, Anders, Athena, and the anonymous extra crew member, who actually plays an important role later.

The raptor jumps to the coordinates and Starbuck realizes what she sees, she’s been painting it for the last three weeks. What she thought was a comet orbiting a gas planet, turns out to be the damaged baseship. The raptor docks and Athena is met by a group of Eights (her own model) who ask for her help to control the Sixes. (Yet another mutiny on the verge).

After convincing the Sixes that the humans are there to help (yes an alliance between cylons and humans), Athena begins to assess the situation by placing her hands in the cylon goo, something Anders wants to do very, very badly (as did every BSG fan). Athena then begins fixing the ship so that it can jump back to the Demetrius. While helping out Barolay (the anonymous crew member), works with one of the Sixes, who she apparently killed back on New Caprica. The Six holds a grudge and eventually lashes out and kills Barolay, which leads to an interesting scene.

Getting back to the reason why they are there. Starbuck finally meets the hybrid and she has this to say…

“Thus will they come to pass. A dying leader will know the truth of the opera house. The missing three will give you the five, who have come from the home of the thirteenth. You are the harbinger of death, Kara Thrace. You will bring them all to their end. End of line.”

The interesting line in there is “The missing three will give you the five, who have come from the home of the thirteenth.” Meaning = D’Anna knows who the Final Five are and they come from Earth, so they should get you there.

After getting over this, they finally jump the ship back to the Demetrius, who are still waiting despite the time running out.

On board Galactica, Roslyn’s dying. She shares some thoughts with another cancer patient and begins questioning her faith. That’s about it.

The Road Less Traveled

On board Galactica, not much really happens. Gaius has his own radio show where he talks about the cylon god and has basically become a priest. A newly bald Chief visits the “Church with Benefits” and eventually starts choking Gaius after he envokes the memory of Cally. Eventually the two men meet on calmer terms and shake hands.

Most of the exciting stuff in this episode takes place aboard the Demetrius, starting with the realization that Starbuck is gone crazy.

After painting the walls of her room, she decides to take a trip flying with the CAP, which causes problems with the crew as they have to sit around waiting for orders while she’s out flying. However, while out patrolling, a damaged heavy raider jumps into the area. Surprise, surprise, Leoben’s flying asking for Starbuck’s help, which she eventually gives.

The raider is docked to the ship and inspected. The inspection goes awry and the crew loses Mathias as the raider blows up.

Aboard the ship, outrage begins to surface with some of the crew as most feel uncomfortable letting another cylon (Athena being the first) on board. It would be interesting to see their reaction when they find out that Anders is one. Speaking of Anders, he had an interesting conversation with Leoben about “Kara’s Destiny.”

According to Leoben, Starbuck has to jump back to the cylon base to meet with everyone’s favorite character, the hybrid. With Starbuck being Starbuck, she wants to jump the entire ship. Helo says no and the mutiny begins. Starbuck relieves Helo from his post and turns to Gaeta, would joins Helo. In fact the only one to join Starbuck is…Anders (Shock). With the time running out on this mission the crew wants to jump back to the fleet. The episode ends with Helo taking control of the ship.

Escape Velocity

Okay, so there been a lot going on and I’ve failed to keep the post coming. So time to catch up, starting with Episode 4: Escape Velocity

After Cally’s death, the was a funeral services for her. Chief gave a wonderful speech about her and from that point on, he’s gone slightly crazy. He flipped at Adama, in Joe’s Bar, for making Cally out to be an angel when in his reality, she was cold. This lead to his demotion to Petty Office.

Col. Tigh had an interested few weeks. First, he kept visiting Caprica Six and asking questions about being a cylon. With each visit, he started see his wife, Ellen’s face on her body, which kinda drove him mad. At the end of the episode, Caprica beat him up in order to help him ignore the pain he was in, but that didn’t help him, so she kissed him. Meaning= Love, Don’t Hate.

Tory and Gaius are still getting it on, at an even more frequent pace. During one of their private meetings, a group known as “The Sons of Aries,” breaks into the brothel and caused a lot of damage. This leads to Roslyn to pass an executive order preventing group gatherings of more than 12 people. Lee and the rest of the Quorum have a huge problem with this and vote to restore the freedom of assembly, after Gaius gets the crap kicked out of him by two marines preventing him from having a gathering of 13.

No word on the Demetrius other than Starbuck has no frakking idea what the hell she is doing.

The Ties That Bind

Well, this was an interesting episode, as has the entire season. The ties that were focused on in this episode revolved around the failing marriage of Chief and Cally Tyrol, as well as the presently rocky relationship between Lee and President Roslin.

The beginning of the episode has Cally believing Chief is having an affair with Tory while at the ship’s bar. While this isn’t happening, the heavy dose of anti-depressants that she is on helps create the fantasy. This plays into the ending of the episode.

Meanwhile, Lee finally accepts his role as the representative of Caprica to the Quorum of Twelve. Vice President Tom Zarek approaches Lee to be the lead vocal opponent to President Roslin’s authority given his actions during the Baltar trial. Lee is initially resistant to the idea, but during the meeting Roslin lashes out against Lee’s apparent support which then leads to Lee taking the role Zarek wanted.

A third story line that is going on during all of this is Starbuck’s travel to find Earth in the opposite direction of the fleet. Joining her, surprisingly, are Gaeta, Helo, Ceelix, Anders, and several other Viper pilots, which begs the question, what happens if the cylons attack the fleet and all the pilots are drifting in space with Starbuck. One of the interesting highlights from this portion of the episode is the fact that Starbuck and Anders are still doing this on-again/off-again thing where they frak and then immediately hate each other.

The other exciting stuff that happened was the increasing divide between the six cylons. Having banished the Cavils, Simons, and Dorals, the Sixes, Sharons, and Leobens have taken control of the cylon fleet. While trying to negotiate a peace agreement, the current leaders ask to have the D’Annas restored. The Cavils agree and everyone jumps to a baseship that houses that model, except a Resurrection ship. When the Sharons and Sixes notice this, their ship gets bombarded. The civil war has begun!!!

Getting back to Cally…

She finds a note that was left for Galen which was a meeting time and place. Surprise, surprise, she spies on the location when Galen, Tory, and Col. Tigh show up. Navigating through the walls, Cally positions herself to eavesdrop on the conversation, when she hears that the three of them are cylons. She then races back to her room, slightly ahead of Galen. They small talk and then she bashes Galen over the head with a pipe or wrench and grabs their son Nicky. She goes to an airlock, to what appeared to be a send-off for her son, when Tory shows up and stops her. Instead, Tory punches Cally and she blacks out. When she wakes up, Tory and Nicky are inside the control room. Seconds later, Tory opens the airlock and Cally gets sucked into space.

The episode ends with Admiral Adama telling Galen what happen to Cally, although we don’t know what was said.

All I know is that this season is off to a fantastic start and I can’t wait to see how it plays out.

Six of One

This is was an unbelievable episode. The Cylons are on the brink of a civil war; The four in the Colonial fleet are trying to find the fifth; Lee finally leaves the fleet; Adama and Roslin fight like they’re married; Adama gives Starbuck a ship to go find Earth; and Gaius gets with Tory.

Season 4 Premiere – “He That Believeth in Me”

Ok, the final season finally began. When I first learned about the name of the episode, “He That Believeth in Me,” I was perplexed by it. It seemed rather strange for the show, but then I did some research and found that, that phrase comes from the Bible. In the Book of John, it is said, “I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.” From this, it directly applies to Starbuck returning from death/Earth. But what intrigued me by this is that the humans are polytheistic and that quoting the book of “the one true God” is supposed to be about the Cylons.

Back to the episode…

The four newly revealed Cylons didn’t have much of an impact, except for Anders who apparently was the cause for the cease-fire. But the crazy part of the show was the point in which Tigh shoots Adama. I was yelling, “What the frak?” but should have realized that it was only a “dream-sequence” and that it didn’t actually happen.

Starbuck returns claiming that she found the way to Earth, but doesn’t remember how to get there. Or she sort of knows how to get there. Or something like that. All she knows is that they are going the wrong way, because she screams in pain every time the fleet jumps. Another interesting tidbit about Starbuck is that she told her husband, Anders, that she’d shoot him between the eyes if she found out that he was a Cylon. I guess it’s a good thing he hasn’t told her yet.

The episode ended in a cliffhanger with Starbuck holding a gun at President Roslin, which should make for a very interesting episode come Friday.

Also, no new news on who the final Cylon is.

Welcome

Welcome to my blog about Battlestar Galactica. The final season begins on April 4th and there are still many questions that remain unanswered. The goal of this blog is provide a place where people can express their thoughts and opinions. More importantly, it will give a place where people can ask, “What the frak?!”
